Connection
to Nature

We engage the land as a healing partner—honoring Indigenous stewardship and nurturing a reciprocal relationship with nature.

We are guests on this land.

Natural Connections operates on the unceded territory of the Áakʼw Ḵwáan on Lingít Aaní, now known as Juneau, Alaska. We honor the Áakʼw Ḵwáan and Tʼaaḵú Ḵwáan as the original stewards of these lands and recognize their enduring relationship with their homelands.

As we engage in nature-based healing, we recognize that the land is not merely a setting—it is a living, relational entity. We honor the stewardship, knowledge, and contributions of Alaska Native peoples in Áakʼw Ḵwáan and beyond. Gunalchéesh — thank you — without you, none of this would be possible.

We acknowledge the histories of displacement, colonization, and environmental changes that have impacted Indigenous communities. Our paths are deeply intertwined with the complex histories of colonization in Alaska, and we aspire to work toward healing and liberation through listening, learning, and honoring the deep wisdom carried by the Lingít people.

With gratitude, we acknowledge the privilege of being guests on this land and the profound healing it offers. We commit to respect, reciprocity, and active engagement with Indigenous communities, ensuring that our work honors their histories, cultures, and sovereignty.

Our Core Beliefs

Nature is healing.

We are all part of nature—reconnecting nurtures mind, body, and spirit.

You are worthy.

Here, you belong—your existence, your needs, and your time matter.

Every body is wise.

The body holds deep wisdom—awareness and deep listening can reveal its truths.

Growth is for everyone.

Challenges shape us—as we navigate them, we evolve, uncovering new paths to ourselves.

We need each other.

Humans thrive in connection—through trust and support, we grow stronger together.

All are welcome here.

Our practice is grounded in inclusivity, respect, and affirmation for all members of our community. We honor the full spectrum of identity, expression, and experience—and strive to create spaces where each person feels seen, safe, and celebrated.

Our Commitment
to Safety

Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Whether navigating the wilderness, engaging in deep personal reflection, or participating in movement-based practices, we cultivate an environment where both physical and emotional well-being are prioritized.

Physical Safety: We follow thoughtful risk management practices across all experiences, ensuring participants have the necessary equipment, environmental awareness, and experienced facilitation to feel prepared, supported, and confident in their surroundings. Our team holds wilderness medicine training, equipping us to handle emergencies and provide informed care in remote settings.

Emotional Safety: Connection thrives when we create spaces of trust and respect. Our programs are led by a mental health therapist trained in wilderness therapy, ensuring a trauma-informed approach that honors individual comfort levels and fosters mindful group dynamics. Every voice matters—whether speaking, listening, or simply being present.

Through this balanced approach, we empower participants to engage fully, knowing they are supported in both body and mind.
